Meet Dr. Ricotta and Staff
Dr. Patrick Ricotta grew up in a suburb of Buffalo, N.Y., and attended Saint Bonaventure University, where he earned his 4-year premedical degree in biology. He then spent 4 years in medical school at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine located in Cleveland, Ohio. He was honored with the Marvin Shapiro Podiatric Surgery award for outstanding performance in surgery at graduation from medical school.
After medical school, he attended a 3-year residency in foot and ankle surgery in Pittsburgh, PA. His residency included extensive training in all aspects of both medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. During residency, he completed rotations in several aspects of surgery, including vascular, plastic, orthopedic, and diabetic limb salvage.
During his residency, he was involved in numerous research projects, which resulted in publications in medical journals distributed nationwide, and Dr. Ricotta has also lectured on numerous topics in foot and ankle surgery at many seminars all over the country.
Initially after residency, he practiced in Fayetteville for a short period of time until he relocated to Lumberton, where he has practiced since 1997.
Staff
Sandra Valentine (Office Manager)
Sandra Valentine joined the Foot and Ankle Institute in September 2005. She has become quite the expert on insurance issues and business in the office. She is able to handle virtually any question that you may have concerning your insurance coverage, office policies, and otherwise.
Shannon Britt (Back Office)
Shannon joined the Foot and Ankle Institute in April 2011. She works with Dr. Ricotta in the back office treating patients. She assists the doctor with all of his procedures and nearly every patient. Shannon is also a CST (Certified Surgical Tech) and assists the doctor in the O.R. (Operating Room) with surgical procedures.
Sharon Britt-Long (Receptionist)
Sharon is our receptionist, and joined our staff in February 2011. She handles most of our incoming calls, appointments, and will check patients in and out of our office.
June Horne (Medical Assistant)
June has been trained in all aspects of office policies, procedures, and assistance. She helps all of us in different aspects of medical care for our patients.
